SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2017) –Freshman libero Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Popovic achieved this honor for the second straight week and still remains first in the conference with 5.59 digs per set.
This past week, Popovic had 20 digs against The Citadel. Against Furman, she finished with 28 digs in just three sets, while pitching in four assists. Her defensive efforts helped the Bucs pick up two SoCon wins, including a victory over the unbeaten Paladins.
