JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 10, 2017) – The Bucs will host Wofford for their regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 11 inside Brooks Gym. Prior to the 2:00 p.m. matchup, the ETSU volleyball program will honor their only senior, Rylee Milhorn (Kingsport, Tenn.) who has devoted her four years to ETSU volleyball.
LAST TIME OUT: The Bucs hosted Chattanooga on Wednesday and cruised to a three-set win. Wednesday’s win gave the Bucs a five-game win streak which they are looking to extend on Saturday. As a team, the Bucs finished with 14 blocks, which is the third highest they’ve recorded all season. Lexie Libs (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) recorded a new personal best of 32 assists.
WHAT’S AT STAKE: The Bucs are currently in second place in the conference with a 12-3 record. Furman is in first place with a 12-2 record with two matches this weekend on Friday and Saturday. If they lose both, ETSU will be regular season champions for the second year in a row. If Furman loses one match, they will tie with ETSU for the regular season title. If Furman wins both matches, the Bucs will receive the second seed in the SoCon Tournament.
SERIES HISTORY: Through 24 games, ETSU has only lost five times against Wofford. Last season the Bucs swept Wofford both times and earlier in the season ETSU won 3-1.
A LOOK AT ETSU: With one game left in conference play, the Bucs are 12-3 and second in the conference. They are also second in hitting percentage, assists, and kills. They are first in blocks, where they have remained all season. Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario) is third in the conference with a .323 hitting percentage. Milhorn is fourth in the conference in kills and Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.) is fifth in kills. Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.) holds her position in assists per set at eighth and Libs reaches the conference stat rankings being tenth in the SoCon in assists per set. Rounding out the rankings is Milhorn, who is fourth in service aces and Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia) is first in the conference in digs. Braedyn Tutton is first in blocks and Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.) is ranked third in blocks.
A LOOK AT WOFFORD: Wofford has an 8-6 conference record. They will play at Chattanooga on Friday night, before heading to Johnson City to take on the Bucs. Wofford is third in the conference in hitting percentage, fourth in assists, kills, and blocks, and third in service aces. Colleen Reilly leads the Terriers, as she’s ranked fourth with a .317 hitting percentage and is second in blocks. Catie Cronister is first in the SoCon in kills and was recently named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Month. She’s also first in service aces. The Terriers’ Lorissa King is third in the conference in assists and Taylor Kill is fifth in digs.
