JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 10, 2018) – The ETSU volleyball team officially opened its 2018 season on Wednesday, as they held their first official practice of the 2018 campaign inside Brooks Gym. The Bucs, who went 19-12 overall and 12-4 in the Southern Conference, will have just over a week to prepare for their first scrimmage next Saturday, Aug. 18 at USC Upstate. The Bucs’ will officially begin the regular season the following weekend, when they take on three opponents at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C.
ETSU fans will see eight returning players from last year’s squad including, Hailey Aguilar (Chicago, Ill.), Kaela Massey (Brentwood, Tenn.), Mariah McPartland (Boone, Iowa), Leah Clayton (Danville, Va.), Marija Popovic (Belgrade, Serbia), AJ Lux (Shelbyville, Ind.), Alyssa Kvarta (Crown Point, Ind.), and Braedyn Tutton (Courtice, Ontario). The Bucs have also welcomed five freshmen to the squad this year, which includes Mary Catherine Smith (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Abbie Trantham (Candler, N.C.), Alyssa Hatley (Rogersville, Tenn.), Adison Minor (Blountville, Tenn.), and Sara Esposito (Pianiga, Venezia, Italy).
