Ladislav Lelkes joined the ETSU Volleyball staff in the Spring of 2017 as an assistant coach.
During his first year with the Bucs, he helped the team to their second NCAA Tournament appearance after claiming the 2017 Southern Conference volleyball title. Lelkes worked primarily with the hitters and middles and specialized in the blocking, as the Bucs led the SoCon in total team blocks and were second in kills.
In 2016, Lelkes served as a volunteer assistant coach at East Carolina University
Before ECU, Lelkes served as an assistant coach for the women's team at Barton College during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. At Barton College, Lelkes handled practice planning, individual skill development and practice execution with an emphasis on offense and blocking.
During the 2015 season at Barton, Lelkes helped the Bulldogs become the best blocking team in the Conference Carolinas while also producing one First Team All-Conference member and two All-State selections.
Prior to coaching, Ladislav played two seasons at Barton serving as the team captain in 2012-13 and 2013-14. In two season with the Bulldogs, Lelkes recorded 231 kills, 161 blocks, 46 digs and 16 service aces. Lelkes was also a part of the VKP Bratislava volleyball club at various levels from 2001-2011. Lelkes helped Bratislava to a second-place finish in the National Slovakian League as well as a national championship and Slovakian Cup Title.
In the summer of 2014, Lelkes worked as a consultant and translator for JL Inc. in his home country of Slovakia. He assisted in building relationships with international clients and acted as translator during international business meetings. Lelkes also spent time working in the Slovakia Ministry of the Environment in 2013.
Lelkes resides in Johnson City, Tenn. with his wife Mandi.
