Johnson City, Tenn. - The ETSU athletic department announced Racquel Ellis and Angela Prosperi have signed National Letters of Intent to join head coach Karen Kemp's Lady Buc women's basketball program.
Ellis and Prosperi are the first two student-athletes to join the ETSU women's basketball program in the early signing period that began on November 10.
Ellis, a senior at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio, averaged six points, three assists and two steals as a junior. The 5-0 guard plays for head coach Jerry Lackey at Mason HS which is ranked #2 in the nation by USA Today. Last year, she helped lead the team to a 26-1 record and a #3 national ranking, according to USA Today.
"Ellis is a very talented point guard that brings both speed and court vision to our program," Kemp said. "She is a good player that comes from a winning program."
Prosperi, a senior at Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Ohio, averaged 12 points, nine rebounds and two assists as a junior. The 6-2 forward/center plays for head coach Tom Hoverman at Lebanon HS.
"At 6-2 Prosperi is a big player, but her greatest assset is her ability to run the floor," Kemp said. "She runs the floor as well as most guards."
The Lady Bucs will open their season on Nov. 22 against Radford. Game time is 7 p.m. in ETSU's Brooks Gym.
