JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 29, 2005) - The ETSU Lady Bucs gave fans a sneak peek at the upcoming season Saturday afternoon as the squad split in two and competed in the annual Blue-Gold game at the Memorial Center.
The Blue squad topped the Gold 64-44, led by senior Candace Gibson's 17 points. Gibson posted a double-double for the game, grabbing 11 rebounds (ten on the defensive end) to accompany her game-high point total.
Gibson led four Blue members in double-digit scoring, including fellow senior B.J. Banjo, who posted 14 points, including canning three first half three pointers. Sophomores Nichelle Akers and Jenny Norman were the other two Blue players to reach double-digits, netting 16 and 13 points, respectively.
The Blue team blistered the Gold in the second half, shooting 62.5% from the field, converting 15-of-24 attempts, and closed the contest with a 54% shooting percentage.
Junior Holly Moring and freshman Adaeze Azubuike led the Gold squad, posting 14 and ten points apiece. Sophomore Michelle Devault pulled down a team high 11 rebounds, and scored nine points, finishing one point shy of a double-double.
