MACON, Ga. (Dec. 4, 2006) - After three straight solid performances senior Brooke Wilhoit (Sevierville, Tenn.) was tabbed A-Sun Player of the Week Monday by the league office. She helped lead the Lady Bucs to three consecutive road wins, including a perfect start in the A-Sun with victories over Mercer and Stetson.
The guard began the week netting a team-high 17 points and forced a season-best five steals in 40 minutes of action against UNC Asheville. She stepped up her game in the second half by going a perfect three-for-three from the field (two-of-two from beyond the arc) and four-of-four from the free throw line in the win over the Bulldogs. Wilhoit provided an eight point, six assist and six rebound effort in the A-Sun opener at Mercer. The senior finished off the week on a high note by dishing out a career-high 12 assists, while adding six points and grabbing five rebounds in the win over Stetson.
For the week, Wilhoit scored 31 points, dished out 26 assists, grabbed 15 rebounds and forced nine steals for the Lady Bucs. She shot 50 percent from three-point range (6-12), while her 12 assists was the best individual performance so far this season in the A-Sun. The pre-med/nursing major is currently among conference leaders by ranking second in assists (5.25 per game) and three-point field goals made (16) and ranks third in 3-PT percentage (48.5). This marks the first time Wilhoit has received the award.
