NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2011) - After capturing their eighth straight home victory in thrilling fashion, the Lady Bucs now take their winning ways on the road as ETSU heads to the Music City to face Lipscomb on Saturday evening. Tip is set for 5 p.m. (Eastern) inside Allen Arena.
After trailing by 14 at the half last Monday night against Jacksonville, the Lady Bucs outscored the Dolphins 45 to 21 in the final 20 minutes to capture a 75-65 come-from-behind win inside the MSHA Athletic Center. Freshman Shawn Randall (Orlando, Fla.) - who was filling in for the injured Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) - netted a career-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting in 35 minutes of work. Meanwhile, red-shirt senior post Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) recorded her tenth career double-double after registering 12 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high seven steals en route to receiving her second career A-Sun Player of the Week honor on Tuesday afternoon.
While Randall and Belcher played a big role in ETSU's 10-point win over Jacksonville, junior guard Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) has stepped up her performance over the last six games. Since going 0-for-4 from the field against USC Upstate back on Jan. 26, Pickwell is averaging 14.2 points and shooting 56 percent from beyond the arc since that game. The Kingsport, Tenn. native has also netted 20 threes during this stretch (3.3 per game).
The Lady Bucs enter Saturday's game with a record of 16-10, 13-4, and ETSU's magic number to clinch the number one seed in next month's General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Tournament is two. Either two Lady Buccaneer wins or a win and Stetson loss will lock up the top spot for the Blue and Gold.
Lipscomb has lost 10 of its last 11 games and sits at 8-17, 5-11.
The Lady Bisons are led by senior guard Jenna Bartsokas' 15.0 points per game, which places her fourth among A-Sun scorers. Fellow Lipscomb guard Anna Bowers is posting 13.5 points per outing, placing her tenth in the league. Both Lipscomb and the Lady Bucs are allowing 69.6 points per game (eighth and ninth in the league), but ETSU ranks first in scoring offense (72.3) while the Lady Bisons are seventh (61.9).
ETSU has won nine straight over Lipscomb and lead the all-time series, 12-1. The Blue and Gold have won eight straight games inside Allen Arena - including the 2008 and 2009 Atlantic Sun Tournament Championships. The Lady Bucs handed the Lady Bisons a 95-64 setback on Jan. 22 inside the MSHA Athletic Center.
