Recorded a double-double in first action as a Lady Buc
MACON, Ga. (Dec. 26, 2012) – ETSU redshirt-sophomore Tiana Burley (Camilla, Ga.) was tabbed the Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Burley is the first Lady Buc to be honored with the Newcomer of the Week award this season and is the second to be recognized by the league after junior Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) was named Player of the Week on Dec. 4.
In the transfer’s first action as a Lady Buc due to NCAA regulations, the center came off the bench and posted a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds in a loss to Appalachian State. Burley logged 27 minutes of play and shot an efficient 75 percent (6-of-8) from the field, as well as knocking down 87.5 percent (7-of-8) from the charity stripe.
Burley and her teammates return to action on Friday, Dec. 28, when the Lady Bucs travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in Carmichael Arena at 2 p.m.
