Florida State Downs Lady Bucs in First Round of Seminole Classic, 99-66

TALLAHASSSEE, Fla. (Nov. 24, 2001) -- The Florida State had five players score in double-digits as they defeated the East Tennessee State Lady Bucs, 99-66 in the first round of the Tallahassee Democrat Seminole Classic Saturday afternoon from Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles led 48-31 at halftime after shooting 58 percent in the first stanza. The Seminoles would continue their hot shooting in the second half as they would shoot 62 percent from the floor. The Seminole lead would reach as many as 36 in the second half and the game would end with FSU on top by 33, 99-66. Junior guard Samantha Copeland and freshman guard Summer Jones tied for the ETSU team lead with 15 points. Copeland shot 6-8 from the floor and also led the Lady Bucs with six rebounds. Florida State was led by forward Tasheika Morris, who tallied 25 points on 10-13 shooting. Morris also led the Seminoles with eight boards. Senior guard April Traylor had 20 points and led the team with seven assists. The Lady Bucs return to action as they take on Akron in the Tallahassee Democrat Seminole Classic consolation game Sunday at 2 p.m.
