SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 22, 2005) East Tennessee State senior Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) has been selected as the Southern Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for February 22. This is her second Player of the Week honor this season.

A forward from Sumter, SC, Mayes led the Lady Bucs to a 2-1 record last week, including wins over Elon and UNC Greensboro. She started the week with 20 points and 18 rebounds in ETSU's 55-54 loss at the College of Charleston on February 16. Mayes then shot 56 percent from the floor, scored 30 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead ETSU to a 70-67 overtime win over UNC Greensboro on February 19. Her 30 point performance was her fourth this season, hitting 14-of-25 from the floor. Mayes concluded the week with 20 points and seven rebounds in the Lady Bucs' 80-62 win over Elon on February 21.

On the week, Mayes averaged 23.3 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the floor. She also drained 12-of-17 free throws and picked up five assists and four steals.

For the season, Mayes leads the SoCon and is 11th in the nation in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game. Tiffani also leads the Lady Bucs and is second in the conference with 8.1 rebounds per game.

ETSU will travel to face Georgia Southern this Saturday in the 2004-05 regular season finale from Statesboro, Ga. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
