Lady Bucs fall to Catamounts 65-60
Monday, February 07, 2005
CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Feb. 7, 2005) - Despite 20 points from Lady Bucs senior forward Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C) ETSU falls to 8-14, 6-9 SoCon with a 65-60 loss to Western Carolina this afternoon. Point guard B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) added 12 points in the loss.
ETSU struggled from both the free-throw line as well as from beyond the arc shooting just 18 and 54 percent respectively for the contest. Although the Lady Bucs had just 13 turnovers compared to the 20 of the Catamounts, and eight steals compared to the three of WCU, the offense never found the rhythm they needed for the win.
In addition to Jennifer Gardner's seventh double-double of the season, junior Teyawna Hardy added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting and freshman guard Ashley Pellom poured in 10 for Western Carolina (10-12, 6-9 SoCon).
ETSU is back in action Saturday Feb. 12 when they welcome Appalachian State to Memorial Center for a 2:00 p.m. match-up. The game will be broadcast live via ETSUBucs.com on the Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network with pre-game coverage beginning at 1:00 p.m.
