JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (Nov. 26, 2004) -  Temple University defeated the Lady Bucs tonight 64-42 behind a 18-point effort from Owls guard Ari Moore sending ETSU to 2-2 on the year, while Temple improves to 2-1 with the double-digit victory.  The Lady Bucs were led by senior forward Tiffani Mayes (Sumter, S.C.) who posted 22 points from the field, while adding five rebounds, one block and one steal in the loss.

The Lady Bucs opened the game with a 6-0 run until the 15:23 mark when the Owls finally overcame the ETSU defense scoring their first points of the game off the Candice Dupree lay-up.  After evening the score at 10, the Owls went on a 10-0 run until Mayes stepped to the line hitting two free-throws giving ETSU their first points in over five minutes.  Plagued by foul trouble by ETSU center Candace Gibson (Warner Robbins, Ga.) the Lady Bucs tallied just 16 points during the first heading into the intermission with the 30-16 deficit.

Moore led the way for the Owls in the first with 10 points, while Dupree added six points and four rebounds in the first-half.  For the Bucs, Mayes tallied 10 first-half points going a perfect 4-4 from the line, while Brooke Wilhoit (Sevierville, Tenn.), B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) and Nichelle Akers (Sumter, S.C.) managed two points each during the opening half.  The Owls shot 44 percent during the first, while ETSU shot just 20 percent from the field including an 0-3 effort from beyond the arc.

After a brief spark in the opening minutes of the second going point-for-point with the Owls, the ETSU offense was never able to overcome the large halftime deficit as the Temple defense held ETSU to a 20 percent shooting effort from the field for the game.  Holly Moring (Irmo, S.C.) managed the only three-pointer of the game for the Bucs as the Owls held ETSU to a 1-9 effort from three-point range.  Both teams struggled with turnovers where Temple posted 31 turnovers compared to the 23 of the Lady Bucs.

ETSU will return to action Nov. 30 as they travel to face Old Dominion before opening Southern Conference action on the road at Elon on Dec. 3, both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. start times.
