JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (November 21, 2005) - Senior B.J. Banjo (Baltimore, Md.) has been named the Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, announced by Conference offices on Monday. Banjo shares the honor with Belmont's Alysha Clark.
Banjo starred in the Lady Bucs' season-opening 78-53 win over Mississippi State on Sunday in Starkville, Miss. The senior poured in a game-high 21 points, including a career-best 5-for-10 performance from behind in the arc. She also tied a career-high in field goal attempts, managing 20 shots on Sunday.
The guard also dished out five assists in 38 minutes of work. Banjo was perfect during her lone trip to the charity stripe, draining a pair of free throws.
The honor is the first for a member of the women's basketball squad, since joining the A-Sun this past summer.
Clark also put up deserving numbers with a 29-point, 18-rebound effort in the Bruins' 86-82 win over Eastern Kentucky.
Banjo and the Lady Bucs hit the road again on Wednesday, as they travel to Cincinnati for a 6 p.m. start time. ETSU returns home to face Eastern Kentucky on Nov. 28.
