Lady Bucs conclude media day in Memorial Center

Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 3, 2006) - Head coach Karen Kemp and the ETSU women's basketball team met the media Friday afternoon in Memorial Center, as they get set to open the 2006-07 campaign one week from tonight against the second-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels.
With the loss of their top scorers from a year ago in B.J. Banjo (19.1ppg) and Candace Gibson (12.3ppg), Kemp will be looking for a total team effort in order to replace them. The Lady Bucs are returning two seniors and five juniors, including the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, Nichelle Akers (Sumter, S.C.). However, a new season brings new faces as the Lady Bucs have brought in five freshmen and revamped her entire coaching staff.
Like the men, the Lady Bucs are picked to finish third in the Atlantic Sun by both the coaches and the media. The ETSU women's basketball program had success in its inaugural A-Sun season, posting 14 conference wins. The 14 victories were the most conference wins under Kemp.
