MSHA Buccaneer Sports Network and Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation announces Lady Buccaneer radio schedule

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 31, 2007) - The Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network and Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation have teamed up to broadcast a handful of ETSU women's basketball games this 2007-08 season.

"We're excited to be carrying select ETSU Lady Bucs basketball games on the WKPT Radio Network," said WKPT Sports Director Scott Gray. "We are looking forward to an outstanding year, and a long-lasting relationship with Lady Bucs basketball and the Mountain States Health Alliance Buccaneer Sports Network."

The Lady Buccaneers will have at least eight of their contests aired on three of the Holston Valley Broadcasting flagship stations. The games to be carried include: UNC Asheville (Dec. 1), Davidson (Dec. 6), Radford (Dec. 20), Appalachian State (Jan. 16), Kennesaw State (Feb. 2), Campbell (Feb. 23), USC Upstate (March 1), as well as every Lady Buccaneer game from the Atlantic Sun Tournament in Nashville.

"The outlook is very good for this year's team, with four returning starters from last year's squad that won 20 games and finished tied for second in the A-Sun," mentioned Gray. "There is no better time to be associated with the Lady Bucs than right now."

Don Helman enters his fifth season as the "Voice of the Lady Bucs", and will be calling all the action on WKPT-AM 1590 in Johnson City, WKPT-AM 1400 in Kingsport and WOPI-AM 1490 in Bristol. Additionally, WOPI's FM translator 97.7 will also air ETSU games.

"We are very excited with this new partnership at WKPT," added ETSU Network Director Jay Sandos. "We were looking to expand our network with women's basketball and baseball, and we very pleased with the direction WKPT is headed and what they had to offer."

Fans should also plan to tune in a half hour before the game to catch all the analysis on the Pregame Show presented by Atmos Energy, and don't forget to stay with us a half hour after the game on the General Shale Brick Postgame Show.

The ETSU women's basketball team kicks off its season this Sunday when they host Wingate in an exhibition game. Tip is set for 2 p.m. inside Memorial Center.
