MSHA Buccaneer Sports Network and WKPT to host three live remotes beginning this Saturday

Friday, January 16, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 16, 2009) - The Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) Buccaneer Sports Network and WKPT Broadcasting Corporation announced Friday they have reached an agreement to host three live remotes inside the Memorial Center, beginning this Saturday prior to the start of the Lady Buccaneer basketball game with Lipscomb.

Scott Gray, the WKPT Sports Director, will host a special two-hour live remote inside the Ward Room of the Memorial Center, beginning this Saturday at 11 a.m. His show will lead up to the 1:30 p.m. tipoff of the Lady Bucs and Lady Bisons contest.

The show will be aired on WKPT-AM 1590 in Johnson City, WKPT-AM 1400 in Kingsport and WKPT-AM 1490 in Bristol. Additionally, WKPT's FM translators in Johnson City (97.7), Kingsport (94.3), and Bristol (97.9) will also air the special remote. Special ETSU guests include: head coach Karen Kemp, Athletic Director Dave Mullins, Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Barbie Breedlove, Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of BASA Jo Anne Paty, and Assistant Director for Media Relations/Broadcast Operations Jay Sandos. Each segment will give Buccaneer fans an insight on what going on inside ETSU Athletics and Lady Buccaneer basketball.

"WKPT is very excited to further our relationship with the Lady Bucs by hosting this two hour ETSU special," commented Gray. "The Lady Bucs continue to make great strides on the court and we are happy to promote their squad. This time of year, with the weather being very cold, there is not a better idea than going to the Mini-Dome and watch a NCAA tournament caliber team.  Last season was the first time in school history that the Lady Bucs made the NCAA tournament and we want to do our best to help bring awareness to this program."

In addition to the show on Saturday, Gray will return for two more remotes on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m.
