Pre-game concert with John Waller, free giveaways, basketball and cheerleading clinics, and Lady Buccaneer basketball highlights Family Day

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 1, 2009) - Buccaneer fans looking for a fun and affordable day with their families during the holiday season should come out to ETSU's Memorial Center on Saturday, Dec. 5 when the Lady Bucs host a special "Family Day."

The ETSU women's basketball grant team partnered with WCQR to bring in a special performer for a pregame concert prior to the Lady Bucs' 1 p.m. tip off with conference foe North Florida. John Waller, whose hit song "While I'm Waiting," was used in the movie Fireproof and will begin playing at 11:30 a.m. inside the Dome.

Doors to the festivities open at 11 a.m., with the first 250 people being treated to free food. In addition, tailgating games will be on hand, while inflatables and poster/face painting will be available for children. Families wanting to turn the concert setting into a picnic theme are encouraged to bring blankets. A limited number of bleacher seats will be available on first-come-first-serve basis.

Following the hour long concert, fans will catch the reigning Atlantic Sun Tournament champion Lady Buccaneer basketball team begin their quest for third conference tournament title when ETSU faces UNF. At the conclusion of the game, a free basketball and cheerleading clinic will be held for children in attendance.

Fans who bring a non-perishable food item will receive $1 admission for the fun filled afternoon. All food items collected that day will be taken to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

"Saturday is going to be an exciting day and we hope families take advantage of all the festivities," said ETSU Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Sara Hacker. "ETSU Athletics takes great pride in community involvement and we think this is a great way for everyone to have fun. Not only will they get a chance to see one of the top teams in the Atlantic Sun, but they will also be treated to live music, food, and clinics for basketball and cheerleading."

In addition, WCQR will be giving away free prizes during their live broadcast at 11 a.m. inside Memorial Center. Also, tune in to WCQR (88.3 FM) this week for a chance to win free tickets to this event.

"I want to thank WCQR for their help in promoting the event and finding us a performer for the concert," said Hacker. "They have been a huge success and we couldn't have done this without their assistance."
