Lady Bucs wrap up exhibition play versus King on Saturday
Friday, November 6, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 6, 2009) - The Lady Bucs get one final chance to work the kinks out before their regular season kicks off in a week, when ETSU hosts King College in its final exhibition game on Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Center. Tip time is set for noon.

ETSU is coming off a 13-point win over Cumberlands last Sunday afternoon, where senior TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) led the way with a game-high 19 points. After trailing early in the second half, the Lady Bucs turned up the heat defensively and limited the Patriots to only six field goals in the final 20 minutes. ETSU outscored Cumberlands 35 to 21 in the final half en route to a 74-61 victory.

King returns two of its five starters from last season - Beth Raby (senior, 7.5 ppg) and Ashley Deans (junior, 15.4 ppg/7.5 rpg). King also returns six players who saw the floor from last year's team. Of the six returning players; coach Williams looks for junior Jessica Tharpe to have a breakout season. In the offseason, King added nine new faces; which two of them are transfers - Derika Mooney from Walters State and Te'Mere Williams from Guildford Tech. Joining the two transfers are freshmen, Brooke Johnson from Cloudland and Mikki Oliver from Hampton. Both players look to compete for playing time and possible starting positions.

In addition, ETSU students who attend Saturday's contest - along with a handful of selected Lady Buccaneer games - will have a chance to win a Nintendo Wii and enter a drawing for a $1,000 cash giveaway, which will be announced at the last regular season game on Feb. 22. Each time ETSU students attend a Lady Buccaneer game, they will have an opportunity to enter the drawing for more chances to win the cash prize at the end of the season against USC Upstate.
