ETSU women's basketball volunteers time at Buc Habitat House
Thursday, October 15, 2009

, Tenn. (Oct. 15, 2009) - Prior to hitting the hardwood for its first practice of the 2009-10 season on Friday, the ETSU women's basketball team took some time away from competition and practice to volunteer efforts at the Buc Habitat House on Thursday afternoon.

During the three-hour community service effort, members of the Lady Buccaneer team and coaching staff spent time moving wood piles, cutting and placing insulation, working on wiring, and cleaning floors.

"I always stress to my team that community service is an important role to being a student-athlete," commented head coach Karen Kemp. "Being apart of the Lady Bucs is not all about playing basketball; it's also giving back to the community and helping those in need. Hopefully our young ladies realized how valuable their time and effort was by working on the Habitat House."
