Lady Bucs to face Belmont in A-Sun semifinals on Friday

MACON, Ga. (March 4, 2010) - The ETSU women's basketball team will take on fourth-seeded Belmont on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2010 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. Tip is set for noon inside Mercer's University Center.

 

The Lady Bucs advanced to the semis after defeating Stetson 84-49 on Wednesday afternoon in the quarterfinal round. Senior Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) led the Lady Bucs with 19 points and 10 rebounds; while TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) was also one of five ETSU players to score in double figures. Wiles ended with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

 

ETSU (21-8) is looking to advance to the A-Sun Championship for the fourth straight season as well as set a new single-season program record for wins on Friday.

 

Belmont (15-14) moved into the semifinals with its 70-65 overtime win over Kennesaw State on Thursday. Second Team All-Atlantic Sun selection Haley Nelson added 16 points and 20 rebounds; while senior guard Amber Rockwell netted a game-high 20 points.

 

The Lady Bucs swept the Bruins during the regular season - defeating Belmont by 14 (81-67) in Nashville and by 22 (87-65) in Johnson City. ETSU leads the all-time series 9-5 and have won the last six meetings.

 

Fans unable to make the trip to Macon can catch all the action live on CSS and through A-Sun.TV.

 

Fans can also listen to all the action live, as "Voice of the Lady Bucs" Don Helman will handle the play-by-play duties. Fans in Johnson City should tune into WKPT-AM (1590), WOPI-AM (1490) in Bristol, WKPT-AM (1400) in Kingsport. In addition, 94.3-FM in Kingsport, 97.9-FM in Bristol, and 97.7-FM in Johnson City will carry the game.
