JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2011) - Last March TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) sent Lady Buccaneer fans into a frenzy when her running off-balance floater put ETSU in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season as the Blue and Gold defeated North Florida, 63-62, in the Atlantic Sun Championship. On Monday night, the teams will square off for the first time since the questionable play as the Lady Bucs and Ospreys square off inside UNF Arena at 7 p.m.

ETSU (8-8, 5-2) is coming off a 69-62 victory over Jacksonville Saturday afternoon where senior captain Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) scored a career-high 28 points on 16-of-18 shooting at the free throw line. Despite enduring a pair of seven-plus minute droughts without a field goal, ETSU was still able to overcome its shooting woes as the Lady Bucs knocked down 25 of their 30 free throw attempts en route to capturing the seven-point road victory.

After dropping four straight conference games to start the season, UNF (4-11, 2-4) is riding high after defeating USC Upstate 91-73 Saturday evening on its home floor. The victory was the second straight for the Ospreys, while the 91 points marked a season best.

UNF is led by junior guard Brittany Kirkland, who is averaging 15.0 points per game, placing her fifth in scoring among conference players this season. Kirkland, who joined the 1,000 point club following her 20-point effort against the Spartans, is the lone Osprey to average double figures in scoring. Taylor Smith, a 6-foot sophomore guard, is second on the team at 8.5 points per contest.

Monday's game pins two teams with contrasting styles as the Lady Bucs rank third in the A-Sun in scoring (70.1), while UNF ranks last in the league at 54.7 points per game. However, the roles are reversed when it comes to scoring defense as the Ospreys rank third (66.1) and the Lady Bucs are tenth (75.4) in the statistical category.

The Lady Bucs have won nine of the ten meetings in the series, with the lone defeat being an 80-73 setback in Jacksonville back on Jan. 31, 2009. Despite ETSU holding a strong hold on the series, three of the four games played at UNF have been decided by ten points or less.

Fans unable to make the trip to Jacksonville can listen to all the action live as Voice of the Bucs Jay Sandos will carry the play-by-play on WXSM-AM 640 The Sports Monster. Also, live video streaming will be available on A-Sun.TV.
