ETSU, Campbell set to square off for final time as A-Sun foes

BUIES CREEK, N.C. (Feb. 23, 2011) - When the Lady Bucs square off against Campbell Thursday evening, it will mark the last time both teams meet as Atlantic Sun Conference foes. ETSU has won all 11 meetings in the series and will look to cap off a perfect all-time conference record against the Camels when they tip off at 5:15 p.m. inside the John W. Pope Convocation Center.

ETSU, who is coming off a thrilling 90-86 double overtime victory over Belmont Monday night in Nashville, locked up the number one seed in next month's General Shale Brick A-Sun Conference Tournament after improving to 18-10, 15-4. Four Lady Buccaneer players scored in double figures, with senior captain Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) netting a game-high 23 points. Joining Davis in double figures were red-shirt senior Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) and juniors Gwen Washington (Manassas, Va.) and Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.). Belcher recorded her fourth straight double-double after finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Washington posted her first double-double of the season after setting season highs with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Pickwell just missed landing her first career double-double by registering 18 points and nine rebounds in 42 minutes of play.

The Lady Bucs have won four straight and 14 of their last 17 games; however, ETSU's starting five has been logging the majority of the minutes during this four-game run. Over the last four outings, the Lady Bucs' starting five is averaging 73 percent of the 850 total minutes played. Meanwhile, Davis played all 50 minutes Monday night at Belmont, while playing the entire 40 minutes against both Lipscomb and Jacksonville.

Campbell enters Thursday's game with a record of 11-16, 10-8 in A-Sun play and will join the Big South Conference next season. After winning their first seven games to start the month of January, the Camels have dropped six of their last nine down the stretch. The Camels were swept this past weekend at Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, but Campbell is 6-2 at home this season in conference action.

The Camels are led by sophomore guard Tonisha Baker's 11 points, while fellow sophomore Jazmine Cooper is posting 10.4 points and shooting 57 percent in 18 league games.

Of the 11 Lady Buccaneer wins in the series, ten have been decided by double figures - including the 76-61 victory over Campbell back on Dec. 20 in Johnson City.

Fans unable to make the trip to Buies Creek can listen to all the action live as "Voice of the Lady Bucs" John Stevens will carry the play-by-play on WXSM-AM 640. Live video streaming and live stats will also be available through GoCamels.com.
