INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 15, 2011) – Even though brackets for the NCAA Basketball Tournament are not determined until March, this weekend a group of women’s basketball coaches, conference administrators, committee members, and the WBCA staff will get a behind the scenes look at the process as they convene in Indianapolis for a mock selection demonstration. Among those in attendance will be our very own head coach of the Lady Bucs, Karen Kemp.
The mock selection – which begins on Saturday – is designed to give the participants an opportunity to learn how the field of 64 is determined come March Madness. The group of participants consist of 18 Division I coaches, eight conference administrators, WBCA officials, and five NCAA women’s basketball committee members.
“I think it is an honor and privilege to be invited to sit in on the mock selection process,” added Kemp. “I’m looking forward to getting a closer look on seeing how teams are selected, seeded, and bracketed when it comes time to make the tournament. We have been fortunate to be one of those teams to make the NCAAs over the years, so it will be nice to have a better understanding of how the process works."
Throughout the weekend, committee members will be posting updates on both Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/NCAAWomensBasketball) and Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/NCAAWomensBKB).
Stay tuned to ETSUBucs.com for a question and answer session with coach Kemp after she returns from Indianapolis.
