JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 19, 2012) – Below are a list of all the ETSU Athletic events taking place for the week of Nov. 19-Nov. 25.
Men’s Basketball (0-2)
This week: The ETSU men’s basketball team hits the road for a two-game swing as the Bucs take on Charleston Southern Tuesday night (7:30 p.m.) and face SEC foe Georgia Friday night at 7 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on WXSM-AM 640 The Extreme Sports Monster. Live video for the Charleston Southern game will be available on the Big South Sports Network, while live stats can be accessed by visiting CSUSports.com. Friday’s game at Georgia will offer both live video and live stats by visiting GeorgiaDogs.com.
Last week: The Bucs suffered a tough 65-62 loss to Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon in their home opener. Senior guard Marcus DuBose (Hartsville, S.C.) scored a team-high 19 points, while fellow senior Sheldon Cooley (Tampa, Fla.) added 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds. ETSU’s defense forced the Golden Eagles into 19 turnovers and scored 17 points off those miscues, and the Bucs also went 14-of-17 (82.4 percent) from the free throw line.
Women’s Basketball (0-2)
This week: Idle
Last week: Four Lady Mocs scored in double figures, including junior Meghan Downes netting a career-high 24 points, as Chattanooga rolled past ETSU, 81-48, on Saturday night inside McKenzie Arena. Downes shot 8-of-11 from the field and had four of UTC’s 11 3-point field goals made, while Alex Black netted three triples of her own to finish with 13 points. Junior Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) was the lone Lady Buccaneer to score in double figures as she totaled 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting and Serena Clark (Tucker, Ga.) contributed with eight points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. As a team, ETSU managed to out-rebound the Lady Mocs, 46-41, and converted 18 offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points.
Volleyball (23-12, 11-7 A-Sun)
This week: The ETSU volleyball team will learn its opponent and destination for the NCAA Tournament as the Selection Show will be broadcast live on ESPNU this Sunday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. A viewing party will be held at 112 Downtown beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Last week: The Bucs won three matches in three days to win their first-ever Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship this past weekend inside Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. ETSU began the tournament with sweep over Mercer on Thursday night, while defeating the three-time defending tournament champion Lipscomb Lady Bisons in four Friday night. Then, on Saturday, after winning the first two sets against North Florida, ETSU outlasted the Ospreys in five as the Bucs won the decisive fifth set, 15-12, to send the Blue and Gold into the NCAA Tournament for the first-time in program history. Junior Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named A-Sun Tournament MVP, while sophomores Bethany Gesell (High Point, N.C.) and Meredith Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) joined Devine on the All-Tournament Team.
