Lady Bucs improve to 2-2 with wins against Memphis, Morehead State

MACON, Ga. (Dec. 4, 2012) – Averaging a double-double through both of the Lady Bucs’ wins last week, ETSU junior Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) was named Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Mitchell posted her first double-double of the season on Friday, scoring 14 points and grabbing a season-high 16 rebounds in ETSU’s home opening win, 83-73, over Memphis. Two days later, the Lady Bucs’ leading scorer put up 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in the second half alone, helping ETSU to its second win in a row, 57-53, on the road against Morehead State. Mitchell ended the game with 15 points after being limited to just two in the first half with early foul trouble.

On the week, Mitchell averaged 14.5 points and 11 rebounds, earning the third A-Sun Player of the Week selection of her career.

The ETSU women’s basketball team will be back in action next Thursday, Dec. 13, taking on LSU in Baton Rouge, La.
