The Bucs are 2-4 all-time against the Commodores

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 4, 2015) – Following Wednesday’s contest against No.8 Tennessee, the ETSU women’s basketball team faces their second consecutive SEC opponent when they take on Vanderbilt on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. inside Memorial Gymnasium. The game is streamed live on SEC Network +.

The Tip-Off
It will be the final game of the season long five-game road trip when the Buccaneers travel to Vanderbilt. It’s the seventh meeting all-time between the two programs with Vanderbilt leading the all-timer series 4-2. ETSU’s last victory over Vanderbilt came in 1980.

Going in Different Directions
When the Bucs and Commodores meet on Saturday it will be a match-up of teams going in two different directions. ETSU is currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak while Vanderbilt has won their last six games.  

Crash the Board Tipps
As a freshman, Sadasia Tipps (Hickory, N.C.) is third on the team averaging 29 minutes per game. In Wednesday’s contest at No.8 Tennessee, Tipps recorded a career-high 10 points to go along with five rebounds. She ranks sixth in the SoCon with 7.3 rebounds per game.

Lead the Way
ETSU has held a lead or been tied (excluding the opening tip) in seven of their eight games this season. Most notably the Bucs held a two-point lead for nearly three minutes against the No.8 Tennessee Lady Vols.  

It’s Happened Before
The last time ETSU defeated an opponent from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) was in 2007 when the Bucs defeated the University of Alabama on the road, 73-62. Since 2007, ETSU is 2-9 against the SEC and 7-44 all-time.

Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt has an overall record of 6-2 and is riding a five-game win stream. In the Thursday’s home contest against Drexel the Commodores shot 58.3 percent from the field in a 74-64 victory. Vanderbilt is 5-0 inside Memorial Gymnasium during the 2015 campaign. Vanderbilt has three players averaging double-digit points with Rachel Bell leading the way with 12.4 points per game. The Commodores quickly jump out of the gate, outscoring opponents 126-84 in the first quarter.

Last Time Out vs. Vanderbilt
The two programs last met in 2013 with Vanderbilt coming away with a 92-71 victory. Four Buccaneers scored in double-digits with Serena Clark registering a double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds). Overall, ETSU shot 41 percent from the field and 32 percent from behind the three-point line.  

What’s Up Next?
ETSU will have a week off for finals week before returning to the court. The Bucs next game will be inside Brooks Gym on Sunday Dec. 13 at 2:00 p.m. against Armstrong State. The Blue & Gold have three of their next four games at home.
