(Jan.20, 2016) – After back-to-back home victories and riding a three-game win streak, the ETSU Women's Basketball team takes it's talents on the road to Birmingham, Ala. to face-off against the Bulldogs of Samford on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN 3.

It will be only the fourth meeting between the Buccaneers and the Bulldogs on Thursday with Samford leading the all-time series, 2-1. ETSU is currently riding a three-game win streak in SoCon play defeating Wofford on the road, followed up by back-to-back home victories over UNC-Greensboro and Western Carolina.
Tianna Tarter named SoCon Player of the Week
Sophomore guard Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named SoCon Player of the Week for all games between Jan.12-18. In two contests, Tarter averaged 25 points per game along with 6.5 assists and five rebounds.
It's SoCon Go Time
ETSU is 3-1 in conference play, rattling off three straight victories over Wofford, UNCG and Western Carolina. In the last two seasons, the Bucs are 14-4 during SoCon play.
Top 25 Success in Rebounding
ETSU ranks 25th in the NCAA and first in the SoCon in total rebounds with 763.
When you need an assist
During the 2015 campaign, ETSU has assisted on 198 of the 412 field goals made. This accumulates to 48 percent of ETSU point's have been assisted on. Senior Chandler Christopher (Greeneville, Tenn.) leads the Bucs with 79 assists, ranking third in the SoCon.
Christopher goes for career-high in victory over W.Carolina
In last Saturday's victory over Western Carolina, Christopher tied a career-high with 20 points, leading all scorers. Christopher also tallied three steals and one assist.
Split Decision last season with the Bulldogs
ETSU and Samford split the season series last year with the Bucs winning in Johnson City, 48-46 before falling at Samford, 69-46. In both games, ETSU was able to register more than 30 rebounds, outrebounding Samford by a total of 63-58. In the two contests, ETSU averaged 47 points.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Samford is 10-8 and 2-1 in conference play this season and sits right below ETSU in the SoCon standings. The Bulldogs are coming off a heartbreaking, 63-60 loss to Mercer last Saturday, falling on a last second three-pointer. Samford is led by sophomore Destiney Elliot who averages nine points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
