Fans encouraged to wear pink to raise awareness and support for women’s cancer research

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 5, 2016) – The ETSU Women's Basketball team will play their annual Play4Kay Game on Saturday inside Brooks Gym as they host the Furman Paladins in a crucial Southern Conference showdown. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. and can be streamed live on ESPN3.

The Tip-Off
It will be the 56th meeting between the Buccaneers and the Paladins. Earlier this season ETSU fell on the road, 81-77 against Furman. Despite trailing the all-time series, the Blue & Gold have won two of the last three games.

Play4Kay Game
Saturday's contest will be honored as the annual "Play4Kay" game to raise awareness and support for women's cancer research. Last seasons "Play4Kay" game saw ETSU come away with a 51-40 victory over Western Carolina.

Welcome to the 1,000-point club Shamauria Bridges
Junior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) on Thursday became the 22nd member of ETSU's 1,000-point club, scoring 12 points in a win over Wofford. Bridges is the fourth Buc in school history to reach the career milestone in three seasons.

Christopher shows off the Repertoire
On Thursday, senior Chandler Christopher (Greeneville, Tenn.) showed off her offensive skills against Wofford scoring a game-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Christopher has scored in double figures five of the last six games.

Glass Cleaners
The Bucs lead the Southern Conference in rebounding with 913 rebounds, averaging 39.7 per game. ETSU has recorded 336 offensive rebounds, averaging 14.6 per game. Senior Shomari Kendrick (Lexington, Ky.) leads ETSU with 6.3 rebounds per game.

Spot the Bucs 15 Points
Of the 92 total quarters played this season, the Bucs have scored at least 15 points in 53 quarters.

100 Club
Six different ETSU players have registered 100 points this season with Bridges leading the Bucs with 351 total points. Sophomore Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas) is closing in on 100, needing just 25 more points to achieve the milestone.

Loving SoCon Play
Since the start of conference play the Bucs have been one of the best offensive teams ranking second in the SoCon with 67.4 points per game. Sophomore Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) ranks second since the start of SoCon play in points, averaging 20 per game.

Scouting the Paladins
Furman has an overall record of 11-12 and 4-4 in SoCon play, dropping their last three games. Against Chattanooga on Thursday he Paladins fell, 61-46. Furman is led by guard Whitney Bunn who averages 14.3 points per game and shoots 42.4 percent from the field. In the last contest against ETSU, Bunn recorded 25 points along with four assists and four rebounds.

ETSU hits the road for their final road SoCon weekend as they play both games in the state of North Carolina starting with Western Carolina on Feb.11, followed by at UNC-Greensboro on Feb.13.
