No.4 seed ETSU split the season series with No.5 seed Furman
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 2, 2016) – The quest for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament begins for the ETSU Women's Basketball team as they head to the Southern Conference Tournament as the No.4 seed taking on No.5 seeded Furman on Thursday, March 3 in Asheville, N.C. at the U.S. Cellular Center. Tip-off is set for 1:45 p.m.

All-Time Series Record: 57th meeting, ETSU trails 31-18
This will be the 57th meeting between the Buccaneers and Paladins and ninth meeting between the two programs in the SoCon Tournament. ETSU trails the all-time series, 31-18 but defeated the Paladins in their last contests back on March 6, 68-64.

Bridges,Dean, Tarter earn All-SoCon honors
Junior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) earned Second Team All-SoCon honors for the second straight year averaging 15 points per game for the Bucs. Sophomore Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named First Team All-SoCon ranking fourth with 17 points per game during conference play. Freshman Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) was named to the SoCon All-Freshman team averaging 5.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game during conference play. Full Release here: http://bit.ly/1TRa2B4
ETSU enters as the No.4 Seed
Compiling a conference record of 8-6, the Bucs enter the conference tournament as the No.4 seed for the first time since 2003. All-time ETSU is 2-4 as the No.4 seed in the SoCon Tournament with their last victory coming in 1985 against Western Carolina.
This Isn't the First Time
It won't be the first time ETSU and Furman have met in the SoCon Tournament with Thursday's contest being the ninth meeting. ETSU trails 7-1 all-time against Furman with the last victory over the Paladins in the conference tournament coming back in 1997.
The 161 three-pointer's made this season for ETSU ranks fourth in ETSU single-season history. The 563 three-pointer's attempted ranks 81st in the NCAA.
Bridges Burning Up the Record Book
Bridges keeps moving up the ETSU record book as she ranks fifth in ETSU's single-season three-pointer's made with 73. Bridges with 221 three-pointer's attempted ranks second in ETSU single-season history. The junior guard ranks second in ETSU history with 199 career three-pointer's made.
The Pre-Game Speech is Working
According to the stats,third year head coach Brittney Ezell can get her team to start a game fast as the Bucs have outscored their opponents, 417-394 in the first quarter.
Bucs All-Time in Conference Tournaments
Since 1984 as part of both the Southern Conference and Atlantic Sun Conference, the Bucs are 28-28 in conference tournaments. ETSU is 17-23 in the SoCon tournament and 11-5 as part of the A-Sun.
Scouting the Furman Paladins
Furman heads into the SoCon Tournament as the No.5 seed after compiling a 7-8 record during conference play. The Paladins have been playing steady as of late winning three of the last five games. Furman has three players who average over 10 points per game with First Team All-SoCon Whitney Bunn leading the way with 15.1 points per game.
What could be next
With a victory on Thursday the Bucs will either take on No.1 seed Mercer or No.8 seed UNC-Greensboro on Friday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. ETSU is a combined 3-1 against the Bears and Spartans.
