The four-team tournament is hosted by the University of Miami, Dec. 19-20

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 2, 2016) – On Tuesday, ETSU Women’s Basketball and head coach Brittney Ezell announced that they will be one of four teams to compete in the 2016 University of Miami Holiday Tournament, Dec. 19-20.

“We have an incredible non-conference schedule this season and this tournament will be a tremendous way to lead into our holiday break and further prepare us for SoCon play,” said Ezell.

Also participating in the holiday tournament is the University of Maine, Coppin State University and host school Miami.

The four-team tournament will begin on Monday, December 19 when the Bucs take on WNIT participant and America East Conference runner-up Maine at 3:00 p.m. It will be the first time the two programs have met. The game will be followed by Miami taking on Coppin State at 5:00 p.m.

“As part of our program’s culture, we make it a point to play home games in our players’ hometowns,” said Ezell. “This year we are fortunate enough to be able to play in the University of Miami’s Holiday Tournament which will make a homecoming for Miramar, Fla., native, Shamauria Bridges and bring us closer to Yamile Rodriguez family in the Dominican Republic as well.”

The consolation and championship game will be held the next day with the consolation game at 3:00 p.m. followed by the championship game shortly after at 5:00 p.m.

“Last season we were able to take Adriane Vaughan home to Virginia for our game at Old Dominion, so it has been great to be able to give a homecoming of sorts back to our players and their families as a thank you for all they do for our program,” said Ezell.

ETSU is coming of a 2015-16 campaign in which they compiled an overall record of 16-14 with three players receiving All-Southern Conference honors. The Bucs have a competitive schedule for the 2016-17 season which includes 15 home contests.
