JOHNSON CITY, TENN. (November 4, 2016) – In their lone exhibition contest, the 2016-17 ETSU women’s basketball team hosts Emory & Henry on Sunday, November 6 at 4:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym.

Scouting the Buccaneers
Last season the Bucs finished with an overall record of 16-14 and 8-6 in conference play to earn the No.4 seed in the SoCon Tournament. ETSU returns nine players from last year’s squad while welcoming five newcomers.

Bridges and Tarter named Preseason All-SoCon; Bucs picked to finish fourth
Senior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) and junior Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) garnered Preseason All-SoCon recognition for the second straight season while ETSU was picked to finish fourth by both the leagues coaches’ and media.

Three-Point Barrage
The Bucs made 161 three’s last season which ranks fourth in a single-season in ETSU history. Shamauria Bridges led the Bucs with 73 three-pointers which ranks as fifth most in a single-season.

Home Sweet Home
In 2015, ETSU was 10-3 at home inside Brooks Gym, marking the first time since 2009, 2010 the Bucs have had back-to-back seasons with double-digit home wins.

What a Schedule!
ETSU has one of the toughest non-conference schedules in school history as the Bucs are set to host 15 games in Johnson City including Appalachian State, Old Dominion, Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee. It will be the Lady Vols first visit to Johnson City since 1983.

Scouting Emory & Henry
The Wasps had an overall record of 19-8 and 11-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, reaching the conference semifinals a year ago. This season, Emory & Henry was picked to finish fourth in the ODAC. The Wasps return just two starters from last year’s squad and are led by senior guard Megan Jacoby who earned Second Team All-ODAC honors last year.
