JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (December 7, 2016) - The second SEC opponent will visit Johnson City this season on Thursday as ETSU women’s basketball hosts Vanderbilt for the first time since 2008 on Dec.8 at 7:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym.

Scouting the Buccaneers
ETSU has won three of its last four contests and improved its overall record to 5-4 on the season. The Bucs captured their two-game winning streak of the season on Tuesday as ETSU defeated Campbell, 56-55.
Tarter Does It All
Junior guard Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) has done it all for ETSU this season as she leads the Southern Conference with 18.9 points per game. She has recorded 20 or more points in four straight games en route to earning back-to-back SoCon Player of the Week awards. Tarter is just 102 points away from becoming the 23rd member of ETSU’s 1,000-point club.
Home Sweet Home
Since 2014, the Bucs have had an edge at home compiling an overall record of 24-6. This season, ETSU is 3-2 in Johnson City, averaging 68.6 points per game. It’s the first time since 1980, ETSU is hosting Vanderbilt.
It’s Been Awhile
It’s the first time since 2008 that the Buccaneers will host Vanderbilt. ETSU trails the all-time series, 5-2, capturing the first two victories of the series in 1979 and 1980. It’s the first time since 1993 the Bucs have hosted two SEC opponents (Vanderbilt, Tennessee).
The Fourth Quarter Switch
ETSU has outscored its opponents, 182-142 this season in the fourth quarter. The blue and gold have scored 20 points or more in the fourth six times this year. In the fourth quarter, ETSU has scored 20 or more points in four straight games.
Building Bridges Resume
Senior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) is inching towards the top ten in all-time scoring at ETSU. Bridges has totaled 1,226 career points which ranks 13th all-time. Bridges is just 15 three-pointers away from becoming the career leader in threes made in ETSU history.
Get Tipps For Rebounds
Sophomore Sadasia Tipps (Hickory, N.C.) has been a dominant force on the boards for the Bucs the past two games. Tipps has led the Bucs in rebounds each of the past two games with a career-high 11 vs. Davidson and eight at Campbell.
Receiving one vote in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, Vanderbilt heads into Thursday’s contest with an overall record of 8-1. The Commodores are currently on a six-game winning streak with victories over Duke, UT-Martin and sweeping two games at the Air Force Classic. Vanderbilt has three players averaging double figures with Rebekah Dahlman leading the way with 12.7 points per game.
