ETSU has an overall record of 5-5 this season and fell back to .500 after falling to Vanderbilt, 80-72 in Johnson City on Thursday, Dec. 8. Despite the setback, the Buccaneers have won three of their last five games.
Tianna Tarter is One of the Nation’s Best
Junior Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) has been one of the best players in the nation so far this season ranking near the top in many statistical categories:
• 20.5 points per game (1st – SoCon, 20th – NCAA)
• 205 total points (1st – SoCon, 8th – NCAA)
• 161 field goal attempts (1st – SoCon, 11th – NCAA)
• 75 field goals made (1st – SoCon, 8th – NCAA)
• 29 steals (1st – SoCon, 15th – NCAA)
• Has recorded four of the top 10 highest single-game point totals this season in the SoCon
Historic Night for Tarter vs. Vanderbilt
In front of just over 1,000 fans, Tarter had a career-night scoring a career-high 35 points on 15-of-28 shooting from the field. The 35 points was the most by a SoCon player this season while her 15 field goals made ranked as the second most in the NCAA this year.
Fourth Quarter Switch
ETSU has outscored it’s opponents, 197-163 this season in the fourth quarter. The Bucs have scored at least 20 points in the fourth quarter six times this season.
The Ball Is The Program
In the past four games, ETSU has been tenacious on defense forcing their opponents to commit 92 turnovers. Of the 92 turnovers, the Bucs have capitalized scoring 106 points off opponent turnovers.
Shamauria Bridges Top 10 in Active Career Leader in NCAA
Senior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) with 229 career three-pointers ranks eighth in the NCAA in active career leaders in three’s made. Bridges is ten three’s away from becoming ETSU’s all-time career leader in three-pointers made.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
Tennessee Tech is currently 3-6 on the season and is coming off a 55-40 victory over Northern Kentucky on December 4. The Golden Eagles are 2-3 at home this season averaging 56.8 points in Cookeville. TTU is led by junior guard Yaktavia Hickson who leads the Golden Eagles offense with 13.8 points per game.
