ETSU has won the last five games against Western Carolina

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.  (January 20, 2017) – Winning four of its last six games the ETSU Women’s Basketball team continues Southern Conference play on Saturday, Jan.20 versus Western Carolina at 2:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym.

Scouting the Buccaneers
ETSU clinched its third straight 10-win season on Thursday as the Bucs defeated UNCG, 60-52. The Bucs have won four of their last six contests and have four of the next six at home in Johnson City. ETSU is seeking its third two-game win streak of the season.  

Don’t Sweat It
Coming off a loss this season, the Bucs have bounced back brilliantly with an overall record of 7-2.

Home Sweet Home
Since 2014, the Bucs have been dominant at Brooks Gym compiling an overall record of 26-10. During conference play the past three seasons, ETSU is 11-4.

Taking the Free Points
In the past three games the blue and gold have made the most of their opportunity at the free-throw line going a combined 46-of-58 (79.3 percent).

10-Plus Quarters
In 90 percent of the 76 quarters played this season, ETSU has scored at least 10 points in 68 of them. The Bucs have recorded six straight quarters of double digit points.

Dynamic Duo
The backcourt duo of senior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) and junior Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) shined against UNCG, combining for 29 points. Bridges had a game-high 19 points while Tarter neared a triple-double with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Gone in 60 points
This season the Bucs have been successful when scoring at least 60 points, holding an overall record of 9-3 when doing so.

Scouting the Western Carolina Catamounts
Western Carolina is 5-15 on the season and seeks its first SoCon victory of the season beginning conference play at 0-5. On Thursday WCU fell on the road to league-leader Chattanooga, 67-46. Offensively the Catamounts are led by Sherae Bonner who leads the team at 10.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
