ETSU begins final road weekend at Western Carolina

JOHNSON CITY, TENN.  (February 15, 2017) – With the Southern Conference Tournament less than a month away the ETSU Women’s Basketball embarks on their final road weekend of the season beginning on Thursday night in Cullowhee, N.C. against Western Carolina.

Scouting the Buccaneers
ETSU has went 5-2 in their last seven games en route to an 14-11 overall record and 6-4 in SoCon play. The Bucs are currently third in the SoCon standings with four games left in the regular season. Overall the Buccaneer offense ranks second in the SoCon at 65 points per game while during SoCon play the blue and gold have averaged 63.5 points per contest.

Bridges Rising Up the Record Books
Senior Shamauria Bridges (Miramar, Fla.) has risen up the ETSU and SoCon record books this season in multiple categories:
• Career Field Goal Attempts – 1,469 – 10th SoCon / 3rd ETSU
• Career Three-Pointers Made – 276 – 3rd SoCon / 1st ETSU
• Career Three-Pointers Attempted – 844 – 3rd SoCon / 1st ETSU
• Career Points – 1,491 – 7th ETSU
• Single Season Three’s Made – 74 – 6th ETSU

Tarter’s Quest for 500
All-American candidate junior Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) needs just 21 points to become the first Buccaneer player since TaRonda Wiles in 2010 to score 500 points in a single season. The Big Three
The trio of Bridges, Tarter and sophomore Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) have propelled the Bucs offense this season accounting for 67 percent of ETSU’s total offense. Each player has recorded over 200 points this season.

Buc Facts
In 12 games this season the Bucs have had three players score in double figures … Since 2002 in the month of February, ETSU is 63-48 … The Bucs have scored 662 points in the paint this season, averaging 25.9 points per game … ETSU ranks second in the SoCon in turnover margin at +1.36

Scouting Western Carolina
Dropping their last two games by an average of 16 points, Western Carolina heads into the Thursday contest with an overall record of 7-19 and 2-9 in SoCon play. On the road last weekend, the Catamounts fell at Mercer, 84-53 and at Samford, 51-50. Junior forward Sherae Bonner leads WCU on the boards as she ranks second in the conference with 9.3 rebounds per game.
