JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2017) – After playing two road games, the Bucs will host two back to back games inside Brooks Gym. They will welcome Tennessee Tech on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 19, they will host Duquesne at 1:00 p.m.
The games will be streamed live on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app. Kasey Marler will handle the play-by-play duties, while Bruce Tranbarger will be the color analyst.
For Sunday’s game, the Buccaneer Sports Network will provide ETSU fans with pregame, in-game, and postgame coverage on the radio. The game will air live on the Bucs’ flagship station WXSM-AM 640. Kyle Cooper will handle the play-by-play, with studio host Mike Gallagher.
Scouting the Buccaneers
The Bucs are 2-1 after a ten-point win over Cincinnati and a 13-point win against Appalachian State. Senior Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) is averaging 12 points per game, while freshmen Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) is averaging 11.7 and Alayjah Sherer (Tupelo, Miss.) is averaging 10.7. Britney Snowden is ETSU’s best rebounder with 18, followed by Raven Dean and Alayjah Sherer who have 15. Shy Copney (Johnson City, Tenn.) leads the Bucs in three-point shots. ETSU has multiple weapons that can shoot from the outside and are able to drive to the hoop when needed.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
Tennessee Tech is 1-1 with an 84-66 win over Tennessee Wesleyan. In 2016-17, the Golden Eagles finished 10-20 and 7-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference, finishing sixth. The Golden Eagles have a total of seven freshmen. Two freshmen, Jordan Brock and Kesha Brady are averaging 12 points per game. Both freshmen are their best three-point shooters and have the best free-throw percentage, along with sophomore, Akia Harris. The Golden Eagles return Yaktavia “Shug” Hickson, who led the team in scoring last season and Asia Harper, who is their third best returning scorer.
Series History with Tennessee Tech
This will be the 25th game between ETSU and Tennessee Tech. They last played each other in 2016 when the Bucs won 82-76 in Cookeville, Tenn. ETSU holds a 4-20 all-time record against the Golden Eagles.
Duquesne is currently 1-1 with an 81-54 win over Winthrop, who the Bucs will play later in the season. Tonight (Nov. 16), Duquesne is at Pittsburgh. Last season, the Dukes finished 18-16 and 8-8 in the Atlantic 10, finishing seventh. They were picked to finished fourth this year in the Atlantic 10 after returning 12, including two starters. The Dukes have just one senior and are filled with underclassmen. Chassidy Omogrosso and Julijana Vojnovic are currently averaging 14 points per game.
Series History with Duquesne
The Bucs will host and play Duquesne for the first time in program history.
ETSU will travel to Estero, Fla. to play in the Gulf Coast Showcase. They open up with No. 6 ranked Notre Dame on Nov. 24.
