JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 28, 2017) – Since returning home from Florida after playing in the 2017 Gulf Coast Showcase, the Bucs hit the road again for a mid-week matchup against the Murray State Racers.

Scouting the Buccaneers
The Bucs sit at .500 after playing top ranked teams at the Gulf Coast Showcase. Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) are averaging double digits. Tarter and Shy Copney (Johnson City, Tenn.) lead the Bucs in three-point shooting. Britney Snowden (Pensacola, Fla.) leads ETSU in rebounding tallying 46 so far. This will be the second time the Bucs will play a member from the OVC this year, the first was Tennessee Tech.
New Career High
Sophomore Jada Craig (Winston-Salem, N.C.) recorded a new career-high of 11 points against Western Michigan in ETSU’s last game.
Watch Out for the Steal
ETSU leads the SoCon in steals averaging 11.9 steals per game. Erica Haynes-Overton is second with 3.1 steals per game and Tianna Tarter is third with 2.5 steals per game. Snowden also averages 1.6 steals, putting her tenth in the conference.
This will be the fourth meeting for the Buccaneers and the Racers. Their first meeting was in 1978 and their last meeting was in 2016. The Bucs hold a 2-1 record against the Racers.
Assistant Coach Keisha McClinic is in the middle of her second year with the Buccaneers. Prior to ETSU, she was the assistant coach at Murray State.
Last Time vs. Murray State
Last year it was ETSU and Murray State’s first meeting since 1979 and the Bucs won 79-60 at home in Johnson City. Raven Dean and Tianna Tarter each recorded double-doubles. Dean led the Bucs with 24 points, and 13 rebounds.
Scouting Murray State
The Racers are currently 2-4 with wins coming from Northern Kentucky and Bethel. In the OVC preseason poll, Murray State was picked to finish fifth and Ke’Shunan James was picked the Preseason Player of the Year. James led the Racers in scoring last season averaging 21.6 points per game. This season James is still leading her team, averaging 23.2 points per game. Bria Bethea and Jasmine Borders are also averaging double-digits and are threats from the three-point line.
