(Jan. 19, 2018) – After picking up a win against Furman on Thursday, the Bucs continue to play in the state of South Carolina, as they take on the Wofford Terriers on Saturday, Jan. 20 inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The Bucs are eager to pick up their fifth straight conference win.

Scouting the Buccaneers
ETSU’s aggressive defense has transpired into many fast break points. Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) and continue to be one of the best guard duos in the SoCon with their stealing abilities and are able to put up many points. Malloree Schurr (Montgomery, Texas), Britney Snowden (Pensacola, Fla.), and Sadasia Tipps (Hickory, N.C.) have been great rebounders for the Bucs. Shy Copney (Johnson City, Tenn.) is one three-pointer away from picking up her 40th three-pointer of the season. Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) has been proven as one of ETSU’s best free throw shooters and Anajae Stephney (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Alayjah Sherer (Tupelo, Miss.) have provided depth off the bench.
60 Wins the Balance
In ETSU’s last four conference games when scoring 60 or more points, they have won their games. They have also limited their opponents to 50-59 points during these wins as well.
Nationally Ranked Stats
Erica Haynes-Overton is ranked third in the nation in steals and fourth in steals per game. Tarter is 15th in the nation in steals and 24th in steals per game. The Bucs as a team are seventh in steals and both 10th in steals per game and free throws made.
ETSU comes into Saturday’s game with an 11-8 overall record and 4-0 in conference play. This is the Bucs’ strongest start since 2014-15 when they started conference play 6-0.
200th Career Wins
Head coach Brittney Ezell is just seven wins away from recording her 200th career win.
ETSU has six players that have scored 100 or more points so far this season. Those players are Raven Dean, Tianna Tarter, Erica Haynes-Overton, Britney Snowden, Alayjah Sherer, and Shy Copney.
Tarter on the Watch Lists
So far this season, Tianna Tarter has been named to the Nancy Lieberman Watch List and the Citizen Naismith Trophy Award Watch List. She is also one of 30 candidates on the Senior CLASS Award.
Spreading the Wealth
All ten Bucs have scored more than 50 total points this season.
Series History vs. Wofford
This will be the 44th meeting in program history. The Bucs hold a 23-20 all-time win record over the Terriers. The Bucs and the Terriers split both contests last season.
Wofford has an overall record of 9-11 and are 2-3 in conference action. Their SoCon wins came from Samford and Western Carolina. On Thursday they hosted Chattanooga and battled, but fell 54-47. The Terriers have three players scoring in double figures; Chloe Wanink, Cairo Booker, and Da’Ja Green. Marissa Bayer leads Wofford with 6.3 rebounds per game, while Emily Ryan will be a threat from the three-point line, as she has 34.
ETSU returns home to host undefeated Mercer on Thursday, Jan. 25. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside Brooks Gym.
