SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Jan. 30, 2018) –Senior guard Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Tarter scored 54 points in two games while shooting 62 percent from the floor and 50 percent beyond the 3-point arc.
Despite losing to Mercer, Tarter scored the team high of 21 points. She had four rebounds and three assists as well. Tarter once again had the team high of 33 points against Samford and was just short of a double-double with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. The 33 points tied her season-high, last occurring against Duquesne and she was just six points away from tying her career-high of 39 points. Tarter’s steals has moved her into 4th place in ETSU’s career steals records with 229. It was also her 20th double-digit performance of the season, her sixth of the season when scoring 20 points or more and her 10th game as ETSU’s leading scoring.
This is Tarter’s second SoCon weekly award of the season and her eighth of her career. The 5-6 guard ranks third in scoring in the SoCon with an average of 17.3 points per game and ranks among the top 5 in assists, free-throw percentage, steals, assist/turnover ratio and minutes played.
Tarter and the rest of the Bucs will hit the road to take on UNCG on Thursday, Feb. 1 and Western Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 3.
