CULLOWHEE, N.C. (Feb. 2, 2018) – The ESTU women’s basketball team continues their North Carolina road swing, as they travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts. The game is set for 5:00 p.m. inside the Ramsey Center.

Scouting the Buccaneers

ETSU is 13-10 and 6-2 in the SoCon and are coming off a 65-61 loss to UNCG. They are looking to bounce back with a road win over Western Carolina on Saturday. Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) continues to be the Bucs’ leading scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) and Sadasia Tipps (Hickory, N.C.) lead the Bucs in rebounds. They average 5.2 rebounds per game, followed by Britney Snowden (Pensacola, Fla.) who averages 5.1 rebounds per game.

New Career-High

In last night’s game against Western Carolina, freshman Alayjah Sherer (Tupelo, Miss.) recorded a new personal best of 16 points. She scored 10 points in the fourth quarter.

200th Career Milestone

Head coach Brittney Ezell is just five wins away from notching her 200th career win.

Series History vs. Western Carolina

This will be the 73rd meeting in program history. The Bucs have won the last eight games against the Catamounts.

Last Time Out vs. Western Carolina

ETSU hosted Western Carolina in their conference opener almost a month ago. The Bucs picked up a 66-50 win. Tarter led the Bucs with 22 points and five steals, while also going a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. ETSU finished the game with 20 steals.

Scouting Western Carolina

The Catamounts enter Saturday’s contest at 4-19 and 0-8 in the SoCon. On Thursday, they hosted Chattanooga and fell 58-41. Judith Martin Ruiz and Sherae Bonner finished in double figures. Bonner has led the team in double figures throughout the season and also leads her team in rebounds, averaging 8.6 rebounds per game.

The Bucs will have one game next week when they hit the road to take on Chattanooga on Saturday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
