ETSU will play in their fourth WNIT appearance

HARRISONBURG, Va. (March 14, 2018) –  The ETSU women’s basketball team gears up for their first WNIT game against the James Madison Dukes. The game is set for 7:05 p.m. inside JMU’s Convocation Center.

Series History

This will be the 14th all-time meeting between the Bucs and the Dukes. The Dukes have won the last four contests and hold a 7-6 record against the Bucs. The last time both teams met was in 2001.

Last Time Out

The Bucs fell to Mercer in the Southern Conference championship game in Asheville, N.C. on March 4. Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.), Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Sadasia Tipps (Hickory, N.C.) each finished in double figures. Raven Dean was the Bucs’ leading rebounder with eight rebounds.

Bucs at a Glance

The Bucs are led by First Team All-SoCon selection Tianna Tarter and Freshman and Defensive Player of the Year Erica Haynes-Overton. Both were named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team and continuously average in double figures. Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) and Sadasia Tipps have been strong rebounders for the Bucs, as they both average 5.2 rebounds per game. As a team, the Bucs are ranked 12th in the nation in steals, 17th in steals per game, and 20th in turnovers forced.

JMU at a Glance

JMU enters Thursday’s game with a 21-10 overall record and finished 16-2 in the CAA. The Dukes are led by Kamiah Smalls, who averages 15.4 points per game and averages 6.3 rebounds per game. Lexie Barrier and Kelly Koshuta also average double figures, while Kayla Cooper Williams averages 7.4 rebounds per game. As a team, the Dukes are ranked 15th nationally in blocks and blocks per game.
