JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 28, 2018) -- Coming off its longest road trip of the season, the ETSU women’s basketball team opens a three-game homestand beginning Thursday night when the Buccaneers host Appalachian State inside Brooks Gym. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE BUCS
The Bucs, who have played seven of their first eight games away from home, are searching for their first win of the season.
ETSU has played a demanding schedule in the early stages of non-conference play as the Blue and Gold have faced 2017 NCAA national champion South Carolina, Big Ten foes Michigan State and Rutgers and American Athletic Conference contender Cincinnati.
The Bucs’ first eight opponents this season have a combined winning percentage over .600.
The Blue and Gold are led by sophomore and reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year guard Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) as she leads the team in scoring (16.8 ppg), field goals made (53), steals (32) and assists (20).
Senior forward Raven Dean (Charlotte, N.C.) is averaging just under 10 points per game (9.8), while also adding 3.8 rebounds per contest.
Overton leads all SoCon players in steals per game (4.0), ranks fifth in scoring, seventh in free throw percentage and 10thin field goal percentage … senior forward Britney Snowden (Pensacola, Fla.) ranks ninth in the league in field goal percentage (43.0), while redshirt sophomore guard Micah Sheetz (Knoxville, Tenn.) is fifth in three-point field goal percentage (38.9).
As a team, the Bucs top all SoCon teams in total steals (76), while ranking third in rebounding offense (36.2) and fourth in rebounding margin.
ABOUT APPALACHIAN STATE
Appalachian State has won its last four games and enters Thursday’s non-conference game with a 4-2 overall record.
During this win streak, the Mountaineers have defeated UNCG, Davidson, Elon and Marshall.
Redshirt senior guard Madi Story is averaging 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while going 22-of-24 at the free throw line, while junior post Bayley Plummer is totaling 6.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest … Sophomore guard Tierra Wilson is coming off the bench and leading the Mountaineers in scoring (10.2), while also pacing Appalachian State in field goals (21) and three-pointers made (12).
Appalachian State is averaging 67.0 points per game, while ranking second in the Sun Belt in free throw percentage (77.1) and rebounding margin (+7.3).
Three of the Mountaineers’ wins have come at home, while Appalachian State has dropped two of its three games away from Boone.
Thursday marks the 77th all-time meeting between the two programs.
Appalachian State leads the all-time series, 42-34, however the Bucs won last year’s meeting, 70-57, in Boone.
In last year’s game, ETSU held the Mountaineers to 35 percent shooting (20-57) and 28 percent from beyond the arc (7-25), while Tianna Tarter (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Overton combined for 37 points.
