Haynes-Overton garners Player of the Week Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 5, 2019) – Sophomore guard Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) was named the SoCon Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

This is Haynes-Overton second straight honor of the week, as she was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week yesterday. This is her first SoCon Player of the Week honor of the season and her third in her career.

In two games, Haynes-Overton averaged 29.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. She shot 59 percent from the field, 94 percent from the free throw line and 80 percent from down town.

Haynes-Overton is averaging 16.7 points per game on the year, fifth amongst conference players, and 18.4 points per game in conference play, third best.

The Nashville native is currently fifth in the nation in steals and ninth in the nation in steals per game. She also leads the conference in steals.

The Bucs (6-17) play the final game of a three-game homestand against Chattanooga (11-11, 6-1 SoCon) on Feb. 9. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
