JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 4, 2019) – Sophomore Erica Haynes-Overton (Nashville, Tenn.) was named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the SoCon, for her outstanding performances against Western Carolina and UNCG this past week. This is her second College Sports Madness honor of the season.
In two games, Haynes-Overton averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, had a .429 field goal percentage and a .857 free throw percentage.
Against Western Carolina, Haynes-Overton scored 18 points, shooting 50 percent from the field and tied the team-high with seven rebounds. The Nashville native scored in double figures for the 13th straight time, the 27th time throughout the season after finishing with 19 points against UNCG. She also had three assists, shot one-hundred percent from the free throw line and did not have any turnovers.
Haynes-Overton and the rest of the Bucs return to action this Thursday, March 7 when they take on the No. 5 seed Wofford Terriers. The game is set for 1:15 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, N.C.
