East Tennessee State Cross Country Teams Open Season at Western Carolina

Johnson City, Tenn. -- ETSU men's and women's cross country teams will begin their 2001 seasons Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina University. The Buccaneers will compete against Southern Conference rivals Furman University, College of Charleston, and Western Carolina. Also, in the event are UNC Asheville, Georgia State and the University of Georgia. The 2001 ETSU Female Athlete of the Year, Roseline Addo, will lead the women's cross country team. Seniors Greg Sprowl, an All-Conference honoree last year, and Mitchell Thompson return to lead the men's team. The women begin at 9:30 a.m. and the men start at 10:00 a.m. with high school and junior high races starting afterwards.
