The event, which will be the first of four tournaments in which the Lady Bucs will participate during the fall season, has an impressive field that includes teams such as Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Florida International, Marshall, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, Southern Illinois and William & Mary.
"This will be a good test early in the year to see where we are as a team," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "We have some young players who will be competing in their first-ever college event, so it should be interesting."
Indeed, the Lady Bucs will have a young squad on the course this weekend, with three true freshmen on the trip. Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Columbia), Cynthia Phillips (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Maria Ringdahl (Kalmar, Sweden) will be making their collegiate debuts, while senior Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) will be counted on to provide some veteran leadership.
Reynolds, who is entering her third season at ETSU, expects her team to continue to improve, especially after a 2003-04 season which saw the team make huge strides. The Bucs won their first-ever tournament at the Lady Terrier Intercollegiate and finished tied for first at The Shamrock. In addition, the Lady Bucs earned eight Top 10 finishes in nine events during the year.
