SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 19, 2005) - Both sophomore Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) and true freshman Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) posted two-round scores of 3-over 156 to help the ETSU women's golf team to a tie for 7th place Monday in the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville at the Cardinal Club.
The Lady Bucs - who posted a team score of 633 - currently trail front-running Georgia State by 38 strokes, but are just 22 strokes back of second-place Kentucky. Louisville is currently third and just one stroke behind the Wildcats.
Kentucky's Erin Faulkner is atop the individual leaderboard after posting a 74 and 69 on the first day, which was good enough to hold a one-stroke lead over Georgia State's Anna Scott. Ringdahl and Gould are currently tied for 19th and 13 strokes back of the lead.
Other ETSU results included sophomore Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) with a score of 159, which tied her for 27th, while seniors Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, P.R.) and Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) finished tied for 43rd and 53rd, respectively. Sophomore Cindy Phillips (Johnson City, Tenn.) also competed and finished tied for 68th.
