WALLACE, N.C. (March 27, 2007) - ETSU junior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) fired an impressive 1-under-par 71 to finish tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard and help propel the women's golf team three spots to an eventual second-place finish on the final day of play at the Lady Seahawk Invitational Tuesday at the River Landing Golf Club.
ETSU posted the second-best team score of the day, finishing at 299 and ending the tournament seven strokes back of host and team champion UNC-Wilmington. The Lady Seahawks finished at 884 for the event, followed by ETSU (901),
"Coming into this tournament Natalia had been struggling and she really had to earn her spot on this trip," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds. "We made some adjustments to her grip and she really showed a lot of determination out there. She was one of the best players in the fall, and this week she proved to herself and her teammates that she's again one of our best players.
"This is the kind of team play we came to expect in the fall and it's exciting to have the girls playing well together again. We were prepared to play and we were confident while we were playing this week."
