MACON, Ga.(April 2, 2008) - ETSU sophomore Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) made history last month in winning the South Alabama Lady Jaguar Classic. She became just the second golfer in program history to capture an individual title. On Wednesday, she made more history, becoming the first ETSU women's golfer to earn an Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month honor, the conference office announced.
O'Sullivan helped power the ETSU women's golf team to their highest ever national ranking (No. 42) last month. The sophomore from Galway, Ireland became just the second ETSU woman to ever win an outright individual championship, posting a season best 69 in the final round to win the individual title by two strokes over Virginia Espejo from Southern Miss at the South Alabama Lady Jaguar Invitational on March 3-4 at Azalea City Golf Course. She led the way for the Buccaneers to a team title at the event. This season, O'Sullivan has enjoyed three Top 7 finishes, including a tie for third in the Cuthbert Cup.
The Buccaneers' women's golf team and O'Sullivan next take to the links on Monday when they partake in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, N.C.
